Coach Licensing

U.S. Soccer National Coaching Licenses

Milton Youth Soccer supports player and coach advancement in all areas, at all levels. To this end, our organization will sponsor or reimburse coaches for classes taken towards U.S. Soccer National Licenses, as well as other training and diplomas on a case by case basis.

Information on U.S. Soccer National Licenses can be found on the federation website. The first level license, the National “F” License, consists of a two-hour course taken through the U.S. Soccer Digital Coaching Center (DCC). This license is appropriate for coaches of 5-8 year old players.

The National “E” License is administered by affiliate member organizations, such as the Vermont Soccer Association (VSA). Visit the U.S. Soccer site for more information on the National “E” License, as well as higher level coaching certifications. This license is aimed at coaches of 9-12 year old players.

Benefits of Licensing

A coach who obtains a coaching certification from U.S. Soccer learns player development essentials, from nutrition and sleep needs, to tactics and session planning. Licensed coaches are exposed to age-appropriate training activities, as well as player safety issues, such as concussion awareness.

MYS firmly believes that improving the caliber of our volunteer coaches will make for better training sessions, more successful seasons, and players who excel and more thoroughly enjoy the sport of soccer.

Finally, the Digital Coaching Center (DCC) offers up planning tools, with pre-made sessions and season planners with age-appropriate training sessions, complete with field diagrams and graphics. These can be saved, printed, and taken to practice.

Licensing Policy

MYS will pay the full cost of the National “F” License and the National “E” License. For certification above these levels (D through A), and for other training and certification (e.g. NSCAA, NHSA) MYS financial support requires board approval. In order to qualify for financial support, you must be a current MYS coach and commit to at least one full season of coaching after obtaining your license.

Please submit all requests for payment or reimbursement to the Treasurer, and copy the Coaching Coordinator.
